SDLP’s Mary Durkan elected at her first attempt at council elections
She topped the poll with 1,231 first preference votes.
It is her first run out as a candidate in the elections to Derry City and Strabane District Council and the first to be elected to the council chamber.
the barrister is the sister of Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan and the niece of former Foyle MP Mark Durkan.
