International Mesh Awareness Day is held during the month of May.
The local health spokesperson said: “I would like to pay tribute to all women who are continuing to fight for recognition, access to appropriate care and change despite, including those injured by mesh.
“In the past year progress has been made.
“The Translabial scanning equipment is now operational within the Belfast Mesh Clinic services.
“Unfortunately due to the long procurement period there is a long waiting list for scan appointments and I am seeking assurances that this will decrease as the service is further established.
“Sinn Féin have requested a meeting with the department to discuss on-going mesh concerns and how we can continue to progress the developments that have been made to date.
“Treating those affected by mesh injuries must remain a priority,” added Cllr Duffy.
