POLICE and the Fire and Rescue Service are currently at the scene of a fire at the old Thornhill College on the Culmore Road.
NIFRS say the fire at the college, which was the inspiration for writer Lisa McGee’s hit comedy Derry Girls, was started deliberately.
Residents are being urged to keep their windows closed while the blaze is brought under control.
Group Commander Andy Burns says five fire appliances are on the scene dealing with the blaze.
He has urged young people “to stay away from the disused building”.
