SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood has now been eliminated.
He had been hoping to take the third EU seat.
But the Foyle MLA was a long way behind Alliance Leader Naomi Long who polled a whopping 105,000 first preference votes.
At the fourth stage of the counting in Magherafelt, Eastwood was finally eliminated.
It is now expected that his vote transfers will go to the Alliance leader and get her across the line, possibly ahead of Sinn Fein’s Martina Anderson who had topped the poll after the first count.
However, it was Diane Dodds of the DUP who was first elected as MEP after UUP Danny Kennedy’s votes were transferred to her.
The votes after fourth stage:
Jim Allister 89,854
Martina Anderson 128,200.50
Colum Eastwood 82,413.50
Naomi Long 123,917
