THE CIty Centre Initiative in Derry is warning businesses and the public to their alert over fake notes.
The warning has been sounded over the circulation of counterfeit €20 notes in the city.
CCI say: “We have received information that counterfeit €20 notes are in circulation locally. We are awaiting more information on the quality of the notes which we will circulate as soon as received.
“Here is what we know so far:
1. The blue COLOURING of the notes is not correct and is lighter and greenish in colour
2. The notes DO NOT pass the pen test
3. There is no shine off the security HOLOGRAM
4. The paper QUALITY is very POOR
“We would advise all businesses to check euros at the point of sale to ensure none are accepted”.
