Delivered by Anna Liesching – Curator of Art from the National Museums of Northern Ireland – the lecture is the latest in the ‘Collecting Art’ exhibition & series of events running until June 30.
The ‘Collecting Art’ exhibition features an eclectic mix of pieces from an array of emerging and established artists from across the world gifted to the museum or purchased over the years.
Bernadette Walsh, Archivist at the Tower Museum, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Anna – who is responsible for the ‘Works of Art on Paper Collection’ and various other pieces in the Arts Council NI Collection – to speak about how National Museums NI looks after and exhibits ‘your’ public art collection.
“From making decisions about what to collect to how we care for and store pieces of art on behalf of the public, this is a fascinating lecture which offers a further insight into the value and issues surrounding public art.”
The lunchtime ‘Conservation of Artwork’ lecture in the Tower Museum at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, June 19, is free – with refreshments provided – but should be booked in advance by calling 02871 372 411.
