Musgrave MarketPlace, Ireland’s leading wholesale supplier to foodservice, retail and SME businesses officially unveiled a new Food Emporium at Musgrave Marketplace, Pennyburn on Thursday 20th June, following a £1 million upgrade.

The transformation of the Pennyburn-based branch into a state-of-the-art Food Emporium forms part of a £10.4m total investment in the Musgrave MarketPlace brand over the past four years, as it continues to redefine wholesale on the island of Ireland.

Opening the branch’s new Food Emporium were Coleraine striker and former Derry GAA star, Eoin Bradley, and newly appointed Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Michaela Boyle.

The esteemed guests were joined by long-time customer of 25 years Phil Grant, a local Mace Retailer, who cut the ribbon to mark the Food Emporium’s official opening.

At the event, customers were the first to sample a range of products from a variety of suppliers including Coffee House Lane, McAtamney’s Butchers & Fusco Foods, showcasing the increased food service offering.

The new-look Marketplace Pennyburn, located on the Buncrana Road, has been designed with the customer in mind, serving local hotels, bars, restaurants and retailers in the North West.

As well as adding over 200 new products to their current range of over 10,000 products, the branch now has a new dedicated alcohol area with an enhanced product selection and an extended fresh produce aisle.

In line with Musgrave Marketplace’s sustainability strategy, the new Food Emporium is designed to save energy and reduce their carbon emissions.

With the introduction of low power eco refrigeration and LED lighting, the Pennyburn branch has reduced its CO2 output.

Commenting on the opening, Michael McCormack, Managing Director, Musgrave NI said:

“The opening of our newly revamped Pennyburn Food Emporium marks another important milestone in our brand journey.

“We are investing significantly in our branches to create Food Emporiums within Musgrave MarketPlace which not only offer a first-class customer experience but also challenge the perception of the traditional cash-and-carry business.

“Our Pennyburn branch has been designed with our customer in mind. From our increased product range to our dedicated alcohol area, we want to help our customers deliver excellence within their own business.

“We have carefully considered the customer journey in-branch and have added a range of new services and innovations, which will enhance the overall shopping experience.”
