POLICE say offiers olice attended a road traffic collision involving a police motorcyclist and a cyclist on the Foyle Bridge this morning, Sunday, June 20.
The incident, which happened during the All Ireland National Cycling Championships being held in Derry city, is to be investigated by the Police Ombudsman.
PSNI Inspector Spence said: “The collision occurred at 11:35am as a cycle race was ongoing in the city.
“NIAS attended alongside police, and both the male police motorcyclist and the male cyclist were treated at hospital for minor injuries and have both since been discharged.
“The Foyle Bridge was closed for a time as emergency services attended the scene, but it has since re-opened.
“I want to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or captured it on their dash cam, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 857 of 30/06/19.”
