POLICE have helped to make Derry’s safer after arresting a dangerous and selfish drink driver.

PSNI Foyle say officers from Local Policing Team (LPT) made the detection in the early hours of this morning in Claudy.

The offender will soon be appearing before the local courthouse and faces a hefty fine and a driving ban

An officer posted on its Facebook page: “As we all head to our beds at night 🛏, there is a group of people who start work when it’s dark to keep us all safe as we sleep 👮🏽.

“So, in the wee small hours of this morning, our colleagues from LPT- 5 were out on Patrol and in Claudy area. 🚓🚓.

“Due to their vigilance they detected a driver who was the worse for wear due to Alcohol 🍺🍺

“They arrested this person and have arranged a visit for them with the local magistrate so they can explain their actions. 🎻⚖️.

“Great work by all, keeping the roads safer.”
