SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood has called for the British and Irish Governments to bring the terms of a deal together based on negotiations to date and put it to the parties.
He said that the SDLP, Ulster Unionist Party and Alliance Party have been making substantial progress while others engage in delay and distraction.
He said: “Over the course of the last number of weeks, the SDLP, Ulster Unionist Party and the Alliance Party have been working hard and we’ve made substantial progress on a number of critical issues in the current process.
“We are continuing to engage, compromise and consolidate that progress.
“In contrast, the last number of days has seen a return to the tired politics of delay, distraction and blame from others.
“It is going down like a lead balloon.
“People want a deal that restores inclusive power sharing government here.
“But two and a half years after the collapse of the institutions, the public’s patience is wearing thin and they’ll know a sham process if that’s what this becomes.
“It’s time for the two governments to step up and step in.
“They should bring forward a draft agreement based on the weeks of negotiations we’ve had so far and put it to the parties,” added the Foyle MLA.
