Police probe vandalism to Poppy wreath in Co Derry

POLICE are appealing for information following the report of a memorial wreath being destroyed by vandals,

The incident happened on Main Street, Garvagh in the early hours of this morning.

Sergeant Stephen Craig said: “It is believed that damage was caused to a poppy wreath at the scene sometime between midnight on Monday, 22nd of July and Tuesday, 23rd of July.

“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact police in Limavady on 101, quoting reference number 616 of 23/07/19.”

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
