The cross-border collaborative project between NeoDyne, InterTradeIreland Fusion graduate, Darren Sisk and NWRC Computing lecturer, Jade Lyons, saw the development of a modular software solution that can be integrated into customer sites via a ‘local’ solution on their physical servers.
Dr Fergal Tuffy, Technology Innovation Manager at NWRC’s BSC said: ‘’The Fusion project has been a great success for all parties involved.
“When we first spoke to the company and heard of their ambitious plans we engaged with Joe Kelleher, one of InterTradeIreland’s Fusion advisors, who covers the South of Ireland and we got the go ahead to begin an application for the Fusion programme.
‘’After assisting them to write a successful Fusion project application, we recruited a high-calibre graduate, Darren Sisk, to join the NeoDyne team and deliver the project with the support of NWRC lecturer Jade Lyons.
“Now 18 months later, the project has been completed and the Fusion graduate, Darren Sisk, is now in permanent employment with NeoDyne, and the project is a credit to his hard work and technical abilities.
‘’The business has gained a competitive advantage by developing new systems and process monitoring solutions that will allow them to continue to grow their business.
“It was exciting for the college to link up with SMEs to put our academic knowledge and skills to use on real world industry projects and be able to take this knowledge back into the classroom, thus enhancing the research and teaching that we are doing.
“It has been great to see the success of this project and the continued growth of NeoDyne and we wish them well for the future.”
Liam Deasy, NeoDyne’s Project Supervisor added: ‘’Through the Fusion Programme and with the support of InterTradeIreland and North West Regional College, NeoDyne has significantly advanced its Manufacturing Execution Systems offering, particularly in the areas of Paperless Manufacturing, Plant Performance Metrics, Web-based Reporting, IoT and Cloud Solutions.
“This will enable NeoDyne to go to market with a suite of product offerings to help our customers gain a competitive edge.’’
