DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a report of an aggravated burglary at residential premises in Co Derry yesterday evening, Sunday, August 4.
The brutal attack happened at a property on the Benevenagh Road area of Limavady.
Detective Sergeant Rachel Gardiner said: “Shortly after 6:30pm, It was reported that a number of persons gained entry to a property in the area, with one man armed with an iron bar.
“One man in his 20s who was inside the property was assaulted.
“He was treated as the scene for head injuries, that are not believed to be life threatening.
“It was reported that a number of windows had also been damaged at two properties in the area during the incident. Police are investigating a link between both the assault and the incidents of criminal damage
“Two men aged 50 years old and 21 years old were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and aggravated burglary. Both men are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
“Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incidents or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the
incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1772 4/8/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
