Suspect arrested over theft of cash from wheelchair user’s bank account

POLICE in Derry say they have arrested a suspect after a local disabled person had money stolen from their bank account.

The despicable incident left the person with no money in their account to buy basic food items.

Local PSNI officers stepped in and with help of staff at Sainsbury’s presented the person with a much needed food parcel.

An officer writing on PSNI Foyle’s Faceabook page says: “So you are a wheelchair user…you have difficulties getting around…you have to get to the shop to get groceries but are having difficulties.

“What would you do?

“Order online? Get a friend to go to the shop for you? 🤔

“What if that friend took your card and didn’t give it back? Then you realise you have no money in your account?

“At this point we get a phone call.

“We made an arrest and are conducting a thorough investigation.

“Meanwhile we managed to get a food parcel from Sainsbury’s to keep him going for a little while.”
