Major suicide prevention conference to be held in Derry – McCallion

SINN Féin’s Elisha McCallion has welcomed a major international suicide prevention conference to be held in Derry this week.

The 30th World Congress of the International Association for Suicide Prevention will be held in the Millennium Forum.

The theme this year is ‘Breaking Down Walls & Building Bridges’

The major international conference runs from tomorrow, Tuesday, September 17 until Saturday, September 21.

Said the Foyle MP: “I welcome the fact that the 30th World Congress of the International Association for Suicide Prevention will be held in Derry from September 17-21.

“This conference will bring together world leaders and international experts on suicide prevention and will see upwards of 800 delegates coming to the city.

“This city, like everywhere else has felt the pain of suicide, and events like this are essential in helping to save lives.

“I also want to commend the local organising committee for bringing this important and prestigious conference to the city.”
