Derry City’s game against Bohemians later tonight (Fri) is even bigger than Saturday night’s EA Sports Cup final.
That’s the view of Derry City manager Declan Devine who said the game has more of an impact on the Brandywell club’s season.
The Candystripes know a victory over the Dublin outfit on Friday night (KO 7.45pm) will lift them into third place with a game in hand.
And Devine insists that European football next season was always the club’s main focus.
He said: “There are six games left- four of them here-including a couple against our nearest challengers in the race for Europe. The boys have worked so hard this season and that would be a fitting reward.”
“It’s going to be very tough; we haven’t beaten Bohs this season, so we know we’ll have to be at our very best.”
“I do think if we can create a similar atmosphere to what we had against Dundalk it would really lift the players.”
City will be without Darren Cole who misses the rest of the season with a cruciate injury while Grant Gillespie is suspended after Saturday’s red card.
However, Greg Sloggett and Conor Davis took full part in training this week and the pair are in contention for Friday night’s match.
