She was speaking after Sinn Féin representatives held a meeting with the Chief Executive of Community Pharmacy NI (CPNI).
Said the local health spokesperson said: “The Community Pharmacist Network survey reveals that pharmacists are increasingly concerned about the shortfall in the number of staff and their ability to sustain safe services for patients.
“Community pharmacies provide vital frontline services to the community.
“But with significant underfunding and a lack of strategic workforce planning, there are real concerns that the service will become unsafe.
“The Department of Health needs to engage with CPNI representatives to resolve the issues around workforce shortages and funding pressures.”
