POLICE in Derry say they have arrested two young males in the city in the early hours of this morning.
The dangerous drivers were arrested for a series of motoring offences, including one for driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
Both are currently in custody at Strand Road police station and will face a court in due course for their motoring crimes which put the safety of the public at risk
PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page: “Recently, local community representatives and councillors made us aware of local residents concerns regarding Vehicle Related ASB on the Skeoge Link Road.
“As a result of this we have and will continue to increase patrols in the area in order to detect and prosecute those engaged in this behaviour.
“This morning whilst conducting these patrols one young man decided to drive out of Fernabbey without his lights on.
“After a short distance the lights came on but the driving didn’t get any better.
“When stopped police had suspicions and a Field Impairment Test was conducted.
“This male has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drug.
“He is currently conducting further tests at Strand Road PSNI Station.
“A short distance away another male decided to take a vehicle less then 150 metres to a local shop without permission or insurance.
“Two silly decisions with the same outcome. Caught by Ballyarnett Npt.”
