POLICE in Derry are jubilant after a man who skipped bail a year ago has been arrested in a cross border operation with Gardai.
The suspect will appear at the Bishop Street courthouse on Friday for being unlawfully at large on serious offences.
A PSNI Foyle spokesperson said: “In October 2018, a then 30 year old priority offender awaiting sentencing for serious offences, absconded after being released from prison on compassionate bail.
“Reducing Unit Offending (ROU) officers at Strand Road in conjunction with our colleagues in An Garda Siochana and our extradition unit have now secured the arrest of this man under European Arrest Warrant.
“He is expected to appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court this Friday, October 11.”
He will be remanded in custody to await a further hearing to be sentenced.
