DERRY firm and IT specialist MetaCompliance is creating 70 new roles in its third phase of growth.
The business, which is owned by Robert O’Brien and supplies cloud software and services for cyber-security and compliance, will have just under 200 staff after the positions are filled.
Mr O’Brien said the introduction of GDPR and other directives had allowed the company to grow.
“The reputational damage of a data breach is too serious to be ignored and now receives board-level attention,” he told Ulster Business.
MetaCompliance, which is based in Derry’s Old City Factory, counts the Home Office, tyre maker Bridgestone, Hewlett Packard and Western Digital among its clients.
The firm will actively target workers in the north-west who commute to Belfast everyday for the new positions.
While there are software developers and people from other technical backgrounds working at the firm, the majority of staff start work at the company with no expertise and train on the job, Mr O’Brien said.
“If they have the talent and work ethic, they can do extremely well. They are paid well above the average for the north-west,” he added.
Mr O’Brien also stressed that he wanted MetaCompliance “to be one of the largest cyber-security firms in the world”.
“We can grow to £50m (and) 300 people.
“That would put us as one of the largest in the UK, if not Europe,” the company owner explained.
“Things look very promising for us. We have the opportunity to become an example.”
