Police with seized Mercedes car in Derry

POLICE have been left scratching their heads after finding this abandoned Mercedes car in Derry.

The silver E-Class four door saloon was discovered on a green area in Galliagh.

It is now been seized by police and enquiries are ongoing to trace those who had been driving it in the area before it was abandoned with a broken rear wheel.

An officer writing on PSNI Foyle’s Facebook page says: “Like most of you I get annoyed at bad parking.

“You know the ones; those who park so close to the line that you can only open your car door an inch.

“Or those without Blue Badges who park in the Disabled Bay because they are “just running in for something”.

“But this one left Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team more confused.

“Who thought dumping this car here in Galliagh was a good idea?

“It’s been driven on a pavement and a public green directly opposite a play park and a nursery school.

“Given the back wheel has caved in and the beer cans in the back I’m not inclined to think that the driver just ‘broke down’.

“Either way we took the car with us to make sure it wasn’t putting the local kids at risk by being burned.”
