POLICE in Derry have arrested yet another selfish drink driver in the city.
Even though police launched a high profile Operation Road Safe campaign at the end of the November for the festive season warning motorists about the dangers of drink driving, there are still those determined to get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence putting the lives of drivers and pedestrians at serious risk of harm.
An office writing on PSNi Foyle Facebook’s page wrote: “How many times have we said that? Yet still folk are out doing it.
“Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team arrested a male who had been drinking and then drove the car into a ditch.
“This happened over the border and you would think that would be a clear indication that you’ve had a few too many.
“Alas no! Our fella got a recovery vehicle to tow the car out and just carried on driving as he was.
“We found him stuck sideways on a back road attempting to do what looked like a 57 point turn.
“Needless to say he was taken to Hotel Strand Road and blew over the drink drive limit.
“I’ve attended traffic fatalities and wonder why people still do this.”
