This will see the introduction of an additional two cinema screens at the site on the Pennyburn Industrial Estate.
The Foyleside councillor said: “This is welcome news and will no doubt boost the economy in the local area.
“The additional two cinema screens and new layout is intended to provide recliner screens, giving a more relaxed cinema experience.
“The proposal will result in a reduction in the overall capacity of the Moviebowl, meaning it will not necessarily divert business from city centre amenities nor will it result in an increase in traffic in the surrounding area.
“The expansion and efforts put into this complex over the years has provided a great asset within the local community, catering for all ages.
“I look forward to seeing the final result of this project,” she added.
