The meeting will take place on February 26 and the partnership will hear a number of reports focusing on the environment, education and leadership approaches to community planning.
The partnership is made up of representatives from local business, community and voluntary organisations and statutory agencies, as well as Derry City and Strabane District Council.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Michaela Boyle, said it was a great opportunity to hear more about the important programmes and projects currently being delivered:
“The meeting will focus on some of the vital work that is being carried out by Council and its partners to tackle some of the most significant issues affecting Derry and Strabane.
“Education and the environment are never far from the headlines at the moment and two reports will be brought to members highlighting some of the new approaches being implemented.
“I am particularly interested in hearing more about the Natural Capital Account concept and how it will help Council achieve its environmental and wellbeing objectives.
“It’s so positive to see the partnership working continue in the delivery of the Strategic Growth Plan and the commitment of all the partners to achieving positive change in a cohesive and effective way.”
At the meeting members will hear a report from the Department of Education focusing on Area Planning and Sustainable Schools and how it will impact on the delivery of high quality education provision.
Council’s Biodiversity Officer, Dr Christine Doherty, will update members on plans for establishing a Natural Capital Account to promote our environmental assets and their value in terms of health and wellbeing, work which is supported by Carnegie UK Trust Embedding Wellbeing in Northern Ireland Project.
The Centre for Effective Services will also be at the meeting to talk about the work they are doing with three local Community Planning Partnerships including Derry and Strabane to develop a co-design leadership approach that works for community planning in Northern Ireland.
