The deputy chair of the Education Committee said: “I pressed officials in the Education Committee for clarity on what areas the £10 million of extra funding announced by Conor Murphy on Monday will be spent.
“I welcome clarity that at least £1 million will go towards supporting children with special educational needs within schools.
“This extra money will complement the £10 million already allocated to help clear the backlogs in diagnosis and assessments.
“It’s vital children with special educational needs get the support they need.
“It’s essential that the Department and the Minister work to acknowledge and address the crisis within special educational needs.”
