AN 11-year-old boy has died in hospital after being struck by a van near Buncrana at around teatime on Friday.
Gardaí said the boy died in Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital after being transferred from Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry on Saturday.
He was seriously injured after he was struck on Slavery Road, Tullyarvan, near Buncrana, at 5.30 pm.
The schoolboy was pronounced dead on Sunday evening.
Gardaí have appealed for information.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the collision, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling on the Slavery Road between 5.15pm and 5.45pm on 21st February 2020, to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
