Cusack: New street lighting scheme for Kylemore is ‘great to see’

SDLP Foyleside Councillor Shauna Cusack has expressed her delight at the recent installation of new LED streetlights in Kylemore Park and replacements throughout the constituency.

Said Cllr Cusack: “We are all aware of the long period constituents were literally ‘in the dark’ while we had no budget to deal with basic Health and Safety issues such as street lighting.

“I lost count of the many outages I reported with many people fearing for their security and being told nothing could be done.

“It’s such a relief to now see Minister Mallon’s commitment to addressing this issue and even better to see the LED scheme replacing the old yellow sodium lights which used more energy and are allegedly less robust.

“Many will notice any broken lights now replaced with individual LED lights in their area.

“With a greater consideration on reducing our energy consumption and being more environmentally friendly, I see this as a really positive step by the Department for Infrastructure.”
