‘Innovation 101 – Helping your business to adapt, evolve and grow’ from 9am – 2pm on Monday March 2nd aims to offer entrepreneurs a one stop guide for practical insights, tools and techniques that will help innovate and take their business to the next level.
Dr Miller has a particular interest in start-up firms and SMEs and her presentation ‘Getting started on your innovation journey: developing a value driven strategy’ will discuss the value of innovation to businesses with the support of evidence and examples.
“It is easy to become absorbed in the day to day running of the business, however, innovation is needed to react, change and grow,” noted Dr Miller.
“Innovation is about doing things differently which will create new value.
“This does not need to only be new products or services; developing new processes, adding new partners, repositioning or embedding new behaviours can all be transformational.
“My presentation will discuss how organisations can evaluate their value processes within their business model as a first step to innovation.”
Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops at the event including ‘A Personal Journey of Innovation: The Highs, Lows and Lessons Learnt’ delivered by Paul O’Callaghan, Innovation Accreditation Manager, Invest NI and Dr Kelly Clark, Managing Director, Orryx.
The Domestic Missions Workshop aims to assist Local Authorities and SME’s to learn from each other about the urban challenges facing UK cities and potential solutions that can be delivered to address them.
The workshop will offer advice on the different routes to access funding to support innovation activities including a panel discussion with Niall O’Somachain, Consultant, Inter Trade Ireland Fusion Programme; Richard Phelan, Innovation Advisor, Invest Northern Ireland and Lorraine Acheson, Innovate UK’s Manager for Northern Ireland.
Innovation 101 is part of a packed schedule at Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Enterprise Week – a programme of events across the Council area aimed at providing entrepreneurs with the tools to take their business to the next level.
