POLICE in Derry are investigating an incident of criminal damage to a car.

The incident happened on the Racecourse Road at the end of last month when the woman was driving Skeoge Road.

Officers suspect the damage caused to the bonnet of the car may been the result of a brick or rock.

PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page: “Ballyarnett NPT 👮🏻‍♂️ are dealing with an incident of Criminal Damage where a member of the public was driving along the old Racecourse Road towards the Skeoge Road when her car bonnet was hit by a large item – likely a brick or rock.

“Obviously the damage is infuriating but more significant to the victim is the fear of it happening again and the fear of what might have happened, say if the brick had gone through her window.

“This is likely children playing ‘pranks’.

“Ensure that you educate your youngsters that this behaviour is not remotely funny and could result in someone receiving serious injuries or worse.

“This happened on 27/02/20 at 2030 hours if you have any dash cam footage give us a ring on 101 and quote 1873 of 27/02/20.

“If something similar happens to you, make sure you give us a call.”
