SDLP leader Colum Eastwood has expressed disappointment at the lack of detail from the Home Office on the impact of new immigration rules on Ireland’s border communities.
Said the Foyle MP: “Having asked the Home Secretary what engagements she has had with the public and private sector throughout Northern Ireland’s border regions regarding the Government’s proposed immigration changes and their impact on service delivery and economic growth, I was disappointed by the department’s response.
“The failure to detail a single meeting or discussion with people or businesses in border communities is incredible. Has this government learned nothing over the last three years?
“The proposed changes to our immigration laws have been created without thought of their impact on border communities.
“Yet again this shows the lack of regard this Conservative Government has for Northern Ireland in their pursuit for a Brexit we did not vote for.”
