SDLP Economy Spokesperson Sinead McLaughlin MLA has said news that airline Flybe has entered administration is devastating news for the thousands of workers and their families.
Said the Foyle MLA: “News that airline Flybe has entered administration is a huge blow to the local economy here in Northern Ireland.
“Flybe flights were critical to ensuring our regional connectivity and supporting people studying and working abroad.”
“My thoughts are primarily with Flybe workers and their families today who will be left devastated and plunged into uncertainty about what the future holds for them.
“Up to 2 400 workers will be made redundant on the back of this announcement.
“Our thoughts are with them on what will undoubtedly be a difficult time.
“I hope their futures are secured.”
Scottish airline Loganair, which flies routes out of City of Derry Airport, will take over two of the Flybe flights to Inverness and Aberdeen in two weeks time.
