Coronavirus: Derry care home confirms death of resident from COVID-19

Patient dies at Mor home in Derry of Coronavirus

A resident of a Derry nursing home who tested positive for coronavirus has sadly died.

In a statement Owen Mor Care Centre say their “sympathies are with the resident’s family.”

The home says it is caring for a further five patients with Coronavirus.

“Intensive monitoring of residents with and without covid-19 is in place,” the home says.

“Even though this is a cruel, serious infectious disease, we are also observing positive changes.”.

On Monday, Owen Mor confirmed six residents of one of the centre’s units had tested positive for Covid-19 on 27 March.

The home said all residents “are being isolated supported by staff.”

The latest statistics show 29 people have tested positive for Coronavirus across the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.

A total of 30 people have now died across the North of Ireland from COVID-19.
