Derry-born Apprentice winner Dr Leah Totton

DERRY-born doctor Leah Totten has offered to donate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) from her cosmetic surgery clinics to frontline health workers in her native city.

The 32-year-old won the 2013 series of BBC’s The Apprentice with the help of a plan to create a chain named Dr Leah Clinics.

The business, which is co-owned by Lord Alan Sugar, was launched the following year.

Following the opening of a drop-off facility at Derry’s Foyle Arena leisure centre for anyone wishing to donate PPE, Dr Totten got in touch.

The Waterside woman said she would post equipment to the centre from her clinics in England.

The Foyle Arena is one of two drop-off centres in Derry for anyone wishing to support health staff.

Western health trust chief executive Anne Kilgallen said a site at Pascal McDonald House in Gransha Park is also open from 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday.

“Any offers to donate unperishable food/snack items, personal care items and Personal Protective Equipment should be directed to [email protected] or (028) 7186 5127 to allow us to advise drop-off sites of anticipated deliveries,” she said.

“We will ensure that all donations are distributed widely to our staff in the hospitals and wards as well as those working all across the community.”

Ms Kilgallen said PPE supplies would be used to support staff, while some items would also go towards “comfort packs” for those working long hours, staff staying in temporary accommodation or staff moving between clients.
