A MAN has been arrested by police on suspicion of drink driving in Co Derry.
He was also further arrested for possession of Class A and Class C drugs under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act.
PSNI Derry City and Strabane say on its Facebook page: “Whilst conducting patrols in Park Village last night we are pleased to report that the vast majority of people were adhering to the Northern Ireland Executive’s direction on COVID-19.
“However, as we approached Learmount Forest we definitely got a surprise when we saw a male unsteady on his feet and urinating on the road in full view of oncoming traffic.
“As we approached this male he thought it would be a good idea to throw his car keys into a nearby hedge and claim he didn’t have them…whilst standing with empty beer cans at his feet beside the car which was insured to him….in a forest!
“To cut a long story short we quickly located the keys and a subsequent search of his vehicle unearthed some illegal substances.
“The male was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a vehicle whilst unfit through drink or drugs, possession of Class A controlled drugs and possession of Class B controlled drugs.
“Following interview this morning he will be visiting a Magistrates Court near you in the near future.”
