THESE pictures tell a story of people who are still defying the lockdown rules and driving around at speed on the roads putting the lives of others at risk of death or serious injury.
This morning Police Derry City and Strabane announced on its Facebook page that Road Policing Officers based at Maydown would be carrying patrols on the Frosses Road and Dunhill Road “to check that motorists are adhering to the NI Executive directions on #COVID19.”
The post added: “Please be responsible and do not travel unless it is necessary and help us to maintain safe social distancing for everyone.”
Within a few hours, police detected a speeding on the Frosses Road which refused to stop for the Maydown based unit.
Police Derry City and Strabane added on its Facebook page this afternoon: “PURSUIT!
“Road Policing Maydown helped conclude a pursuit today when we detected a speeding driver on the Frosses Road.
“He refused to stop but with the help of #PSNIDogSection #PSNIAirSupport & local Police 2 arrests were made.
“Our car however has seen better days! #KeepingPeopleSafe”
So the advice is still to stay at home at all cost and only leave for essential foods and medicines or daily one hour exercise per day.
Keep your distance of two metres and don’t invite friends or family round to your house.
