SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood has paid tribute to frontline workers on International Workers’ Day.
Speaking on International Workers Day, the Foyle MP said: “Today we’re reflecting on the bravery and sacrifice of our frontline workers and health care staff who have given their lives to protect us from Covid-19.
“While most of us are rightly reducing our contact with others, many of our key workers are continuing to put themselves at risk to ensure we are protected and have everything we need.
“We must continue to ensure that our nurses, doctors, care workers and all of those on the frontline have the proper PPE they need and they are paid properly and fairly for the job they do.
“Never again should nurses have to stand out in the rain for pay parity.
“The best way to honour our workers is to treat them with the respect they deserve and pay them properly.”
