THERE are further concerns in the North West about fly-tipping of rubbish.
Like most recycling centres across the North of Ireland, the centres in Derry and Strabane are closed because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Concerns were raised at the weekend that motorists from Donegal were crossing the border into Derry looking use council recycling centres.
SDLP councillor Martin Reilly that some pictures on social media have emerged that suggest people are travelling to specific sites to dump waste.
“Where the buck stops, and we have to be clear, it stops with the people who are leaving the waste there,” he told BBC Radio Foyle.
Cllr Reilly is urging the public to utilise extra council waste service put in place since the centres closed.
“Council has hot lines available for the collection of waste, bulky goods, extra collections of your black bin waste so there is absolutely no excuse for this type of fly tipping,” he says.
