Speaking on BBC Radio Foyle’s Mark Patterson Show, George Fleming said a more defined timeline would give much-needed certainty to businesses here.
The Stormont Executive announced on Tuesday its ‘Pathway To Recovery’ in a five stae plan but refused to ive any dates on when the lockdown restrictions will be lifted for businesses, churches, sport and education.
“The plan is not a bad plan but in all elements of business you need measurements,” said Mr Fleming.
Mr Fleming says dates allow for proper commercial planning.
His own firm, Fleming Agri-Products, reopened in late April after initially closing on 30 March.
Ninety-five per cent of the 100 plus employees are back on site and coming to terms with the new safety-at-work measures put in place.
“Within a few days everyone felt comfortable again,” he says.
But other businesses they have been left in limbo as to when they can safely restart their businesses.
The Executive has said its lockdown measures will stay in place until Thursday, May 28 or until the science says otherwise.
