THERE have been some marvellous feats by people to help raise money for the NHS these past two months as they dealt with the Coronavirus outbreak
But charities have unfortunately felt the brunt of the pandemic with donations dramatically slashed because they have been unable to raise money in the normal ways such as street collections.
However, a Derry girl decided to take on a massive challenge – to climb Mount Everest in her own home to raise much needed cash for the brave volunteers of Foyle Search and Rescue who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year to keep people safe along the River Foyle.
As Derry Daily reported last month, Chloe said: “Mount Everest is 8,848 Metres high.
“So I need to climb 44240 stairs (20cm stairs).
“That’s 3403 flights of my stairs (We have 13 stairs).
“So thats 340 flights a day for 10 days..”
Well, Chloe has completed her tremendous feat in the ten days and has now raised over £2,000 for Foyle Search and Rescue.
Her extraordinary efforts have been warmly applauded by Foyle Search & Rescue.
It says on its Facebook page: “We cannot thank Chloe enough for choosing ourselves to fundraise for by climbing Mount Everest at home.
“She has raised an amazing £2133.00 following her event.
“And she should be extremely proud of this amount it goes over and above her target which she set out at £250.00.
“This donation will make a huge difference to our charity.
“Thank you to everyone who donated and supported Chloe.
“This donation would not be as amazing as it is without the kind and generous support from you all.”
Well done Chloe!!
