DETECTIVES have charged two men with assault, criminal damage and aggravated burglary.
The men aged 33 and 34 are due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court this morning, Monday, May 18, for a first remand hearing.
As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
The charges are in relation to an incident in Magherafelt in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 17.
Shortly after midnight it was reported that three men had forced their way into a house at Ashgrove Park in the Co Derry town.
They attacked the 34 year old male occupant with weapons, believed to be bats or iron bars, before fleeing.
The two suspects, aged 33 and 34, were located by police a short distance away and arrested.
