THE Department of Health have reported that there has been two more COVID-19 related deaths in the North of Ireland.
It brings its total to 526.
The department’s daily figures are mostly comprised of hospital deaths and where a patient had previously tested positive for the virus.
The latest figures on the department’s dashboard show a further four confirmed positive cases of the virus, bringing that total to 4,732.
Today’s figures show there are six patients with suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 currently occupying ICU beds, with 29 ICU beds available.
The total number of confirmed outbreaks in care homes is 71, with a further 36 suspected care home outbreaks across NI.
An outbreak is confirmed where at least two residents or staff have had a positive Covid-19 test in the last 14 days.
There have been 27 confirmed deaths from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area with over 160 positive cases from the deadly virus within the council boundary.
Last Friday, Nisra reported that up to May 22, there had been 716 deaths in the North of Ireland from COVID-19.
And it revealed that more than half of those deaths had taken place in residential care homes,
