Said the Foyle MLA: “I very much welcome this latest report from Pivotal. Their contributions to the policy debate in Northern Ireland are important and evidence-based.”
“It is essential that as we emerge from lockdown we don’t simply try to recreate what went before. For one thing, that will not be possible. For another, Northern Ireland needs to do things better than in the past.
“Pivotal is suggesting more investment in skills, infrastructure, social cohesion and decarbonisation.
“These are all principles that the SDLP is strongly committed to.
“We urge politicians from across the spectrum to seriously consider these ideas and I hope that society as a whole will debate the measures suggested.
“I particularly welcome the report’s suggestions for addressing the terrible levels of economic inactivity we have in Northern Ireland.”
