The Park recycling centre will be open to the public from 12 noon to 8 pm Monday to Friday, and from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday.
Due to health and safety issues around access to the Plumbridge site, a booking system is in place with access permitted by appointment only.
The public can book a slot from tomorrow (Friday) morning by ringing 028 71376590.The site will be open for bookings from 10 am – 6.20 pm, Monday to Friday and from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturdays.
The public are urged to arrive on time for their appointments and not to arrive early as this may cause traffic management issues.
People who don’t have a booking made will not be permitted to access the Plumbridge site.
A spokesperson for the Council’s Environmental Services section explained that the booking system at Plumbridge will allow for safe access and usability for staff and users and that signage, advising the public of COVID-19 restrictions and safety messages, will be displayed at the centre.
Two cars will be permitted into each of the sites at a time with site attendants on duty available to co-ordinate and ensure social distancing measures.
The remaining other Household Recycling Centres within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area that remain open are as follows:
Pennyburn – from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on Saturdays. Sunday, from 1-5pm

Council is working with the HSE with regard to revised traffic management arrangements within the wider Glendermott and Eglinton complexes, while Killen remains closed due to constraints with the size of the site, accessibility issues and difficulties around social distancing measures for staff and the public.
Users are asked to note that both Plumbridge and Park sites will be only accessible for cars only with vans and cars with trailers are urged to utilise the remaining sites at Strathfoyle and Strahans Road that are currently accepting vans..
Van drivers who use the Household Recycling Centres within the Derry City and Strabane District Council and those with large vans with trailers will only be permitted to Strathfoyle and Strahans Road sites during the following revised times – Strathfoyle, between 8 and 9am Monday to Saturday, and at Strahans Road between 10 and 11am Monday to Saturday.
No large vans with trailers will be accepted at Pennyburn, however, large vans will only be permitted access between 8 am and 9 am, Monday to Saturday.
These new arrangements are in place to assist with traffic management arrangements and in the interests of the health and safety of staff and site users.
A temporary waste disposal facility, set up at Spamont Playing Fields in Castlederg to assist those in the rural area of Killen, Castlederg and Killeter, to dispose of additional waste during the current COVID-19 pandemic, will continue to open two days per week, every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 am to 4pm, to dispose of general and green waste only.
