A Coronavirus test centre near Derry, one of four across the North of Ireland, will close at the end of this month.
With sport set to return to City of Derry Rugby Club, the Department of Health says the centre at the club’s Judges Road ground will no longer be available.
“Work is underway on behalf of the National Testing Programme to identify an alternative site and an announcement will be made in due course,” a department spokeswoman says.
The NI national testing centres have been operating during the pandemic at the SSE Arena in Belfast, City of Derry rugby grounds, Craigavon MOT centre and St Angelo Airport outside Enniskillen.
The centres are expected to be busy in the weeks and months ahead as lockdown measures ease and more people meet up in indoor premises such as bars and restaurants.
There has already been cluster outbreak of Coronavirus in Limavady after a number of people went to a karaoke house party.
It is believed they picked up the virus by handling round a microphone.
There have been 29 deaths from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane District Cuncil area since March.
Last week saw a sudden rise in positive COVID-19 cases in the council area.
On Friday, there were a further 8 positive cases from COVID-19 within the council’s boundary, up from four reported last Thursday.
The figure for Derry was the highest for any of the 11 councils across the North of Ireland at the time.
Health chiefs have urged the public to maintain a social distance of two metres and wash their hands as much as possible to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.
