THERE have been nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the North of Ireland.
It brings the total number of confirmed positive cases here to 5,930.
There have been no COVID-19 related deaths recorded by the Department of Health in the past 24 hours, which means its death toll remains at 556.
The department’s daily figures are mostly comprised of hospital deaths, where a patient had previously tested positive for the virus.
Two patients with Covid-19 are currently being treated in intensive care in a hospital here.
To date, there have been 29 deaths from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area since the pandemic erupted in March.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that excess deaths within the council boundary from COVID-19 was 8.1 per cent.
