Said the Derry MLA: “This is an important issue for many of my constituents and it is a case that, together with SDLP councillor colleagues, I have been working on for some time.
“I understand that Housing Executive plans are currently at an advanced stage.
“However, they are unable to provide a start date until the Department for Communities has given its approval.
“Unfortunately, this project has been hampered with delay after delay for several years, leaving local residents disappointed and frustrated.
“Residents are understandably anxious to finally receive a clear commitment.
“This is essential refurbishment and would be a huge boost to the local area.
“Now that the Assembly is back up and running, there really is no reason why there should be any further delay.
“I have urged the Communities Minister to provide clarity on when her department will approve proposals submitted by Housing Executive for the refurbishment of the ‘Triangle’ property complex.
“It is imperative that the Minister moves quickly to provide this assurance to residents,” added the Foyle MLA.
