THE Department of Health has announced that there has been 75 new positive cases of Coronavirus in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of cases diagnosed since the start of the outbreak to 9,541.
It comes as new restrictions come into effect at 6 pm from this evening in the North of Ireland to halt the spread of the deadly virus.
There are to be no mixing between households except for those with caring responsibilities.
Only six people from two households can meet in a garden.
In the last seven days, 963 people have tested positive for the virus.
However, there has been no further deaths with the Department’s total, which is mostly in hospitals, at 577.
There are 36 Covid patients in hospitals across the North of Ireland, with five in intensive care.
Some 28 care homes are dealing with outbreaks of the virus and 197 Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes closed.
In the last seven days, there have been 129 positive cases from COVID-19 in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
It brings its total since March to 483.
A total of 29 people within the council boundary have died from Coronavirus.
