RETIRED couple donned hi vis vests and gloves to help carry out a litter pick up at Grangewood hospital in Derry.
It was part of an effort by volunteers Alan and Maureen Neely to ‘Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’.
And during their efforts with other volunteers they helped to collect six bags of rubbish.
The Western Health say: “Thank you Alan and Maureen Neely for organising a litter pickup around Gransha Lake on our grounds at Gransha Park.
“Alan worked many years as a Biomedical Scientist / IT Systems Manager for the Western Trust within Pathology Services.
“And his wife Maureen in Nursing Administration and have now been retired approximately five years.
“Alan and Maureen decided to kindly give something back and at the same time do something positive for our local community.
“The team had a very successful litter pickup culminating in about 6 bags of mixed rubbish, mostly plastics, bottles and tin cans along with other pieces of household rubbish and fishing line.
“This litter pick was registered with www.liveherelovehere.org contributing to the work of ‘Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’.
“This program allows individuals as well as community groups to ‘Adopt a Spot’ to look after.”
