SINN Féin MLA Martina Anderson has welcomed confirmation that work is to begin towards the adoption of the Barleyfields housing development in Culmore.
Martina Anderson said: “I have been lobbying the Infrastructure Minister on behalf of the Barleyfields residents over the delay in adopting the development so that key services like refuse collection can be accessed.
“I welcome that the minister has now confirmed that the process of preliminary adoption will soon begin on the completed sections of the development following assurances from NI Water that the sewerage infrastructure is adequate.
“This is progress but I would also call on the minister to ensure that this process is completed before the winter sets.
“This is important so that residents are not left in the position of having to haul full refuse bins up potentially icy and treacherous slopes.”
