Cllr Logue said: “I am pleased that this External Cycle Maintenance scheme is underway.
“It was very clear the external appearance of many homes had suffered as a result of long exposure to the elements and residents are entitled to expect that the properties are kept adequately maintained.
“It is also very busy all year round as it is one of the key tourist and historical parts of our city which brings in thousands of visitors to see the Bloody Sunday memorial, Free Derry Wall, the H Block Monument and the Museum of Free Derry just across the street.
“These schemes cover a wide range of external home improvements.
“It is good to see the area around the Fahan Street steps getting improvements with fencing and lighting.
“This is an area badly in need of this work and where the local Martin McGuinness Cumann carried out a major environmental clean-up back in July which was warmly welcomed by residents.
“I will be working with residents and the Housing Executive to ensure that the work is carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible.
“If any resident has any queries, please feel free to contact me.”
